In our early stages of life, when we step into the world of professionals, we have dreams and visions and we try to establish our professional image and picture where we will stand after a couple of years. But marriage, kids’ transfer, family responsibilities, and other commitments can make all of this go out of the way. And this is one thing I know from my experience. Name: Sanjana, and I am a mother of two kids. Currently, I am living in Japan, Tokyo. Before my marriage, I used to work in an international company located in India.
Living in a new country post-marriage became a very exciting experience for me, but not without making some tough choices. I had no choice but to sideline my profession. Once I gave birth to my children, my priorities changed. For the last few years, my family and children have been the only priority of my life. Motherhood has made me very happy. However, within me, there has always been an urge that I must do something for myself and that something is motherhood. It was important for me to fulfill the needs of my children. Making Up My Mind to Quit the Job Wasn't Easy at All
As long as I was not married, it was natural for me to act like a professional. The aspects that used to matter for me were working, going to work, working with people, being responsible, and being successful at work.
The last couple of years have been filled with thinking about family, children, and the whole family. It was wonderful to be a mother. But at the same time, I knew that there had to be something for me to do. Working with the big MNC in India gave me an opportunity.
Following my move to Japan, it was a complete change. I was forced to adjust to a different country with a brand new culture as well as a brand new way of life. With my family growing, my kids naturally required greater attention and time. Much like many mothers who have children, I made concessions. My professional life was one of the many.
Initially, I thought that it would be a temporary situation. I thought I’d restart my career once the perfect timing was right. Motherhood is one of the best experiences in my life. I have never looked at the way I take care of my kids as a sacrifice that I have to make. They are my top priority, and I am grateful for every minute that I have spent with my kids. Nevertheless, it seems that there is another thing that I need to understand: to be a great mom does not necessarily mean to forget about yourself.
My children wanted to view me not just as their mom but as someone who dreamt of working hard and worked to create something worthwhile. I wanted to demonstrate the possibility of being able to be a good mother while growing in your own personal development. This thought stuck on my mind for an extended duration. characterized by regular working hours and travel as well as commitments from a professional perspective that do not always be in harmony with the requirements of two young children. I started looking for something that was adaptable.
Through this experience, I was introduced to the idea of abacus teacher training. Initially, I became fascinated with this idea. However, this was certainly not the end of me after attending school. Slowly, I started teaching the children and gaining experience. This is when I understood how much I liked this job. Learning to teach them helped me develop patience. It also taught me how to communicate. It also taught me that it is to be able to acknowledge even the smallest accomplishments. Gradually, I was more comfortable in my role as an abacus trainer.
The journey that I took led me to the Delighted Champs, in which I serve as an abacus instructor and assist in the management of Japan. Japan market. Presently, I’m proud of having established my own identity as a professional within Japan as well as being a mommy.

Having been out of the world of work for several years now, it seemed hard for me to imagine if I could actually master something else or be able to teach children or handle my kids and be able to do work or construct something professionally in a foreign country.
It all came to my mind, but after having started taking small steps, I gained confidence. Every single kid that I taught gave me a lesson on learning. Every successful class just made me much more confident. Every single challenge just showed me that I can actually do much more than I have imagined.
My Children Are Still My First Priority
